Cairo Book Fair extends publisher registration for its 58th edition to 15 November
The Egyptian General Book Authority has extended publisher registration for the 58th Cairo International Book Fair to 15 November 2026, from the previous deadline of 31 October, giving Egyptian, Arab and foreign publishers more time to complete their applications for the January 2027 fair in New Cairo.

What has changed
Registration for the 58th edition opened on 1 October 2026 and was due to close on 31 October. The Book Authority has now moved the closing date to 15 November 2026. The reports of the extension say it came at the request of the president of the Egyptian Publishers Union and the president of the Arab Publishers Union, so that publishing houses and cultural institutions wanting to take part can finish their registration and participation procedures.
How publishers register
Applications are open to Egyptian, Arab and foreign publishing houses, and registration and stand booking are handled electronically through the fair’s publishers’ platform, under the fair’s participation rules. The extension is presented as part of the early preparations for the new edition, aimed at a wider Egyptian, Arab and international presence at what is one of the Arab world’s leading publishing events.
What is known about the 58th edition
The 58th edition is due in January 2027 at the Egypt International Exhibition Center in the Fifth Settlement, New Cairo, under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, with Qatar as guest of honour. Qatar received the guest-of-honour mantle at the closing events of the 57th edition in February 2026. The exact public opening dates and visitor hours for the 58th edition have not been confirmed in the reports checked for this article, and are not stated here.
Why the fair matters for Cairo readers
The last edition set the scale the new one will be measured against: the 57th fair, held from 21 January to 3 February 2026 at the same New Cairo venue, drew a record 6,200,849 visitors, with 1,457 publishing houses from 83 countries and 6,637 exhibitors in total. For readers, the practical consequence of the extension is narrower but real: publishers that missed the October window now have until 15 November to secure a place, which in turn decides how broad the shelves will be when the fair opens in January.
