El-Sisi calls for turning the Arab Organization for Industrialization into an industrial integration platform
President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met the chairman of the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI), Major General Mohamed Abdel Fattah Abu Bakr, in Cairo on Wednesday 4 November 2026, calling for the organisation to become an industrial integration platform combining advanced manufacturing, private-sector expertise and foreign investment, while pressing ahead with deeper local manufacturing, technology localisation and export growth.

What the President directed
According to Presidential Spokesperson Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, the President directed continued, intensive work to deepen local manufacturing, localise technology, attract local and foreign investment, support national industry, boost exports, expand the production base, strengthen partnership with the private sector and improve the business environment. He stressed that the AOI should serve as an industrial integration platform combining advanced manufacturing capabilities with private-sector expertise and foreign investment and partnerships, so that closer cooperation among those parties strengthens industrial integration, builds Egypt’s manufacturing capabilities and improves the country’s industrial competitiveness.
What the AOI chairman presented
Major General Abu Bakr presented the AOI’s development strategy, with a focus on increasing the manufacturing and technological capabilities of its factories, alongside its activities, projects and future plans across civilian and military fields. He set out several examples of the organisation’s success in localising advanced manufacturing technologies in new industrial fields, meeting the needs of industrial sectors to international quality standards, and opening new export markets and outlets, as part of implementing Egypt Vision 2030. He also highlighted the AOI’s contribution to development projects in a number of African countries, and its role in strategic projects including public transport, freight transport and light mobility solutions, with an approach built on expanding partnerships with the private sector and major international companies to attract industrial investment.
Why the platform idea matters
The meeting’s message is that the AOI should move from being a collection of factories to a meeting point for everyone who can push Egyptian industry forward: state manufacturing capacity, private-sector know-how and foreign capital and technology. That framing ties the organisation’s future to the wider industrial agenda the President set out — deeper local production, technology transfer and more competitive exports — rather than to any single project. No timetable, investment figure or list of new projects was announced at the meeting, and the presidency statement did not name specific companies or deals, so the platform remains a direction of policy for now, with the details to be set out in the AOI’s development strategy as it is carried out.
