Five mornings of dense fog ahead for Greater Cairo roads, Egypt's weather authority warns

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority has warned of dense water fog between 4am and 9am every morning from Tuesday 3 November to Saturday 7 November 2026 on roads to and from northern Egypt through Greater Cairo, with a hot daytime high of 30°C in Greater Cairo today and winds of 30-35 km/h at intervals.

When and where the fog will form

The warning covers the early-morning hours, from 4am to 9am, every day from Tuesday 3 November to Saturday 7 November 2026. According to the EMA statement as carried by several outlets, the fog will affect roads leading to and from northern Egypt through Greater Cairo, the Canal cities, central Sinai and northern Upper Egypt. Within the Greater Cairo area, coverage of the warning names the Cairo–Alexandria desert road, the Cairo–Alexandria agricultural road, the Al-Wahat road and the Al-Dabaa road, as well as the heights of east Cairo, 6th of October City and Sheikh Zayed. One report of today’s warning put visibility below 100 metres on some stretches; the EMA’s own advice, as reported, is the practical point — drive with care while the fog lasts, because visibility can fall fast on individual roads even if not every area is affected equally.

What today looks like after the fog lifts

Today, Tuesday 3 November, is expected to stay hot by day across most of the country, with a high of 30°C in Greater Cairo and the Nile Delta, and cooler nights and early mornings. Winds will pick up at intervals to 30–35 km/h over parts of Greater Cairo, South Sinai and southern Upper Egypt. Low clouds may bring a light, inconsequential drizzle to scattered parts of the north, including Greater Cairo and the Canal cities, while the only rain chance mentioned is a very weak one over the Matrouh desert. In other words, the fog is a morning problem, not an all-day one — but it returns each morning through Saturday, so an early start on any of the next five days needs the same caution.

How the weather authority says to drive in it

The EMA has urged drivers to slow down during fog hours, switch on fog lights where fitted, keep a safe distance from the vehicle ahead, avoid stopping suddenly on the road, and follow traffic officers’ instructions. Those steps matter most on the fast desert and agricultural roads named in the warning, and on roads near water, where fog tends to thicken. Readers should check the EMA’s own updates before an early-morning journey, since fog density varies from place to place and from day to day — and no road closure has been announced in the coverage checked for this article, so none is stated here.
